What best way to spend quality time with your dog than to go on a road trip with him? Or take him camping somewhere far, right? Well before you go pack your bags, there are a few things you need to know and remember. First is your dog’s well-being.
Is he going to be comfortable? Is he fit to travel by car? Do you have the right equipment or tools? There are a lot of items you can have to ensure your dog’s well-being. Here are a few of them.
Dog seat-belt or harness. Yes, there is such a thing as dog seat-belt. It keeps your dog safe and secured while the car is moving. A dog car harness is strapped across his chest and is fastened, via clip on, to a safety belt. Either of this two will do. But before you go on that long ride, make sure that you get your dog used to the harness or seat-belt first. Take short rides with him wearing a seat-belt or a harness.
- Plastic Crate or travel Carrier.. If you have a small dog, or a puppy. You can take a plastic crate with you in case you need to contain him while you are on the trip. If he is not crate trained yet, better get him used to it.
- Car Barriers. You can either use a mesh barrier or a metal barrier. This will help your do away from your face while you are driving. The last thing that you want is getting in an accident because your dog decided it wanted to sit on your lap while you are driving.
- Dog Hammock. You didn’t think this trip is just for you, right? Yup, get your dog a hammock. Bring one for yourself as well, so you can both relax while lying in the hammock and enjoying the outdoors.
