Have you ever thought about what could be running in your dog’s mind? A recent research that is quite new has delved into how dogs really do use their brains. It also looked into the type of emotions that dogs go through. This research has been done to make sure that you, as a dog owner, should know and learn more about your pet.

Have you ever thought about what your dog thinks about?

You do everything for your dog and with your dog. You make sure that they are happy and taken cared of. You spoil them rotten. You allow them to get some zzzs on your bed. You call them your baby and you make sure that they know that you are their parent. You find plenty of excuses to dress them up, especially on Christmas and even on Halloween. You give them gifts during their birthdays and during Christmas. You look at them as if they were one of the family. However, what you do not do is you stop and think if your dog really likes what you are doing. Have you ever thought about what your dog thinks about? Well, a new research that is scientifically based has actually been done and delved deep into a dog’s mind.

What about the research

Gregory Berns is a neuroscientist and he is a good one at that. He has been studying the human brain for many times already. Now, he has shifted his focus from the human brain to that of a dog’s. He made use of neuroscience to actually look into how dogs and humans work and live together fine. What Berns has been doing is he has been doing work and research to understand how a dog thinks. He wants to learn more about the thoughts of dogs and their thought processes as well.

According to him, doing guesses would seem like the easy thing to do but it is not really scientific. He has found out that aggression in dogs can be quite difficult to find because doing a study on a dog’s brain while he is going through aggression is not going to be an easy feat. After all, he would need to use tools and technology to do that and one of those is the magnetic resonance imaging (which is also known as the MRI). This helps him understand what motivates dogs and how they make decisions.

To be able to do really good research, he has a team working with him. What he does is he goes through the process of getting dogs trained so that they would be able to get into an MRI machine without moving around and staying still. Of course, this is a feat because the dog must be awake for the scan to be done. Their effort has definitely paid off as they are now getting results and they are still in the process though of getting more data and studying the data that they are getting from the tests that they are doing.
