If you are a dog lover, you surely have read so many stories about dogs saving humans. They have been there for us so often that they have saved us in multiple ways already. They have saved us from drowning, they have protected us from snakes, and they are even involved in military operations to fight against terrorism.
But how about raising funds to help fight cancer? This is probably a unique situation that rarely occurs. Helping us in so many ways, dogs truly are the perfect examples of unconditional love. It is a kind reminder of why they were called our best friends in the first place.
Dozer is a goldendoodle who is honored as a champion of cancer patients. For those of you who are not familiar, goldendoodles are crossbred pups between a golden retriever and a poodle. Hence, the name, goldendoodle. It was a Sunday afternoon when Dozer suddenly went missing from his home.
There was a half marathon taking place in their area and a small stretch passed by their home in Howard County, Maryland. The curious canine, whose owners had an invisible fence set up for, ran away and perhaps ignored the warnings he got from the device.
He joined the race, and it seems that he was determined to finish it. Some runners saw him stop by for water at the water station then carried on just like them. The crowd wildly cheered when they saw Dozer. Undoubtedly, this reaction was caused by their amusement, but little did they know that Dozer was about to do more.
This marathon was a fundraiser for the University of Maryland’s Greenebaum Cancer Center. As Dozer crossed the finish line, more fans cheered him on confirming his status as a mini-celebrity. He has his own Facebook page to raise awareness for their cause, and he has raised thousands of dollars for the Greenebaum Cancer Center.
