As the owner of the dog, you have to be responsible enough that you would be handling not only yourself during the whole adventure but you would also be responsible for your dog as well. You have to make sure that you get a good leash for your dog so that he does not just wander anywhere he chooses to. After all, it would be really a hard thing to find your pet in the woods or in unfamiliar territory. You may all get lost and that would not be good. Be sure though to check ahead if the trail or the route that you would be taking allows you to bring a dog. Most of them do! Also, make sure that you pack enough treats and food and a lot of water to get you and your dog going. This would also help you from getting dehydrated.
